Earlier diseases particular only in some countries or regions can spread all over the world easily. Spread of diseases like AIDS made modern infection protective measures necessary in all fields, including dentistry. The most important is to protect you from getting infected during the tooth treatment. Maximum attention must be paid to the control over infection in clinics

The usage of autoclave
An autoclave is a device designed for sterilization of medical instruments by applying compressed vapor. Its capacity varies from 18 to 76 liter. In dentistry the rate of unsuccess in the clinics utilizing the sterilizer with dry vapor is determined as 60%. In the clinics utilizing autoclave any unsuccess related to sterilization has never been faced. Only heat or only pressure can not be enough for sterilization. The rule which must be observed: heat and pressure must be applied at the same time for some time. Only in this form it is possible to eliminate bacteria.  Sterilizer with dry vapor and the autoclave are together used in our clinic to provide an optimal sterilization.

Some steps for control over infection:

Apron for a patient:
The apron for a patient protects our clothes from contamination of bacteria. These aprons are of single-use.

Usage of treatment glove, mask and protective glasses protect both patient and doctor from bacteria and microbes which can be transmitted via blood, saliva, breathing, etc.

Use of shoe covers:
Thus we meet your wish not to bring microbes of street to the site where you or your family and friends are treated.  Because of it, shoe covers must be used inside the clinic. The staff of our clinic wears special shoes inside the clinic.

Sterilization with heat
Most of instruments we use in the treatment are sterilized with the help of high heat immediately after its usage. The devices which are not sterile are not used in our clinic. Generally, this procedure is carried out using two devices. Although the sterilizer which delivers high heat (the sterilizer with dry vapor) provides with a good sterilization, the structure and characteristics of some instruments can be deformed under long-termed heat. So, not every instrument can be put into the sterilizer. For sterilization of this kind of instruments, the second device called Autoclave (Sterilizer with Pressed Air) is used. It is proved in all over the world that more speedy and reliable sterilization is provided with autoclave.

Single-use (Disposable) instruments:
Only single-use syringes are being used in our clinic. The needles which are used in these syringes, the plastic cups which are used by the patients to rinse their mouths, tips of saliva and blood sucker and other such kind of instruments are used only for one patient and are thrown away.

Disinfecting sprays and mixtures
After each patient the dentist's chair is cleaned with disinfecting spray and protective cover on the head cushion is changed. The instruments used for the patient, any prosthesis brought from the laboratory, measurements taken from the patients and moulds  created on these measurements are kept in the disinfecting liquid for some time before its contact to the patient.

Elimination of the used instruments
The used needles are gathered in one glass container, glass and plastic instruments are packed separately, amalgam filling debris (to prevent mercury inside of it to be evaporated) are gathered in glass closed containers.

STAGES OF STERILIZATION PROCEDURE

A. Cleaning and controlling.
B. Packaging and loading.
C. Sterilizing.
D. Unloading.
E. Collecting and distributing.

A. Cleaning and controlling
In the stages of operation procedure firstly come cleaning carried out in accordance to all the rules. It is known that by thoroughly washing 95-97% of micro organisms are done away. Cleaning is achieved manually or by the help of special devices.

B. Packaging and loading
The instruments which will be used must be protected with a special package. Packaging materials must be in accordance to sterilization methods. Single-use packaging materials must not be used more than once. If package is too big to dry quickly, it can prevent to sterilization. The packages which are wet at the end of the sterilization process must not be accepted and must not be used.

C. Sterilizing
All microorganisms including bacteria spores can be eliminated.

D. Unloading
It provides return to any stages. Results of made work and tests and chemical, biological and physical performance tests are conducted and written.

E. Collecting and distributing
All instruments must be transported in special transporting means and placed in shelved system. The instruments which look non-sterile must be sterilized again. Collecting area must be beside the sterilization area. One must avoid contacting them without necessity and while using attention must be pain in date of sterilization.
